Dale In The Desert

This video, featuring photographs of Dale in the Mojave Desert and elsewhere -- taken by Dale's wife Frieda, family members and friends -- was shown at the Celebration of the Life of Dale Burdette. It was produced by Frieda's son Steve as a tribute to his step-father.

I'm Free

Don't greive for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God made for me
I took his hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I've now found peace at the end of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Oh yes, these things I too shall miss.
Be not burdoned with times of sorrow
Look for the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen your pain with too much grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now - He set me free.

Remembrances

Frieda and family, I was very sorry to hear about Dale's passing. It is my understanding that a memorial service will be this Sat. at 2PM at the Yucca Valley Religious Science Church? Please know that your friends from Unity Church are thinking of you at this sad time.

Condolence from Richard Casaday

It is easily known to the Shultz family that Grandpa Dale was a wonderful extension to our family. Although I never knew him personally, he showed his kindness through his personality and placation through his actions. What I do realize is that he was the only grandfather I clearly remembers with my eyes and understood with my ears. When Natasha told me that he passed away on Friday evening, I didn’t believe her. While I stared at her dumbfounded for what seemed like a millennium, countless things went through my mind “I just saw him a couple of months ago,” I thought, “That’s impossible.” I still don’t understand the cause of his death, but I know now that’s not what matters. Every hour, minute, and second that we had all been allowed to spend with him was precious. I thank God immensely for the time he was here on Earth and that, though we are all suffering, we learned through this ordeal that life should be cherished and that we need to stop taking things for granted and praise the Lord that the people we love are still amongst us today.
Love from your niece, granddaughter and cousin, Naomi Shultz

It has been a while since we last talked or even seen each other Dale. However, we will always remember your quiet nature and friendly spirit. Myself, my mom, and sister pray for you and your entire family. You and Frieda really know how to live life and enjoy the beautiful nature around us that most of us take for granted. I don't know anyone like you two who get up every morning to enjoy the sunrise and the beauty of the morning. You will be missed.

Much love, the Buendia Laysa Family

I will remember Dale as a man of gentle dignity. His kindness to my mother, and their shared happiness are memory gifts for me. Thanks to you Dale, for a life well lived, a love freely given, and good memories that live on.

The first picture of Dale sitting among the wildflowers reminds us of the last time we were out with Dale and Freida in Wonder Valley enjoying nature and the panorama of wild flowers. It was such a special day. Dale and Freida were our hiking buddies. It was such a shock when we returned from Utah to see Dale in the Continuing Care Facility. We will miss Dale very much, but know he will always be with us in spirit when we go on our hikes. He was, and still is, our hiking buddy.

Dear Frieda and Family,
Celebrating a life well spent is a privilege for the living to the memory of those who pass beyond this life. Although I knew Dale for such a short time, just a few years, he was a welcome member to our family. A pleasure to Frieda, his wife and spiritual partner, and well accepted by here children. We will miss his ever close presence but he will always be near and remembered by his loved ones. God bless his eternal reward of happiness.

Dale was a kind and caring man and a wonderful companion to Frieda. Just one glance in his direction and one could tell that he was a man with a gentle soul and a wonderful character. He certainly will be missed by all those with whom he came in contact.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand
This powerful song, requested by Dale's wife Frieda, opened the Celebration of Life for Dale Burdette on Saturday, April 26, 2008. At the service, it was sung by Rainbow.

How Great Thou Art
And this beautiful song, also chosen by Frieda, was performed by Rainbow at the conclusion of the Celebration of Life for Dale Burdette on Saturday, April 26, 2008. During this song, all family and friends of Dale present rose and held hands in a big circle or remembrance.
